    Brief

Queen's University Belfast is seeking suppliers to provide, deliver, install, and commission fibre optic distributed temperature sensing (DTS) equipment for three geothermal demonstration sites across Ireland. The scope includes: an interrogator unit, specialized cables, and related accessories for installation in shallow geothermal boreholes. Sites are located in County Sligo (Republic of Ireland) and Greater Belfast (Northern Ireland). The equipment will monitor subsurface heat resources to support geothermal energy adoption across the island. This is part of the EU PEACEPLUS-funded GEMINI Project, running until September 2028. Installation is expected to begin Q4 2026, with timelines subject to site owner procurement schedules. All work is outdoor-based in urban settings and will be exposed to seasonal and adverse weather. Suppliers should be prepared for challenging environmental conditions and coordinate with multiple site owners.
