    Brief

The National Gallery in London is seeking an experienced Accessibility and Inclusion Consultant to guide the design and delivery of a new building development integrated with the existing Gallery on Trafalgar Square. This is a comprehensive engagement spanning all RIBA design stages (0-7) through to post-occupancy support. The consultant will lead the development and implementation of accessibility and inclusion strategies throughout the project, addressing physical access, movement, wayfinding, visitor experience, and inclusive design. You will advise the client and project team on compliance with accessibility standards, Building Regulations, and planning requirements, while managing integration with the heritage-sensitive existing estate and operational environments. Key responsibilities include: coordinating accessibility requirements across all disciplines (architects, engineers, landscape designers); preparing access statements and regulatory submissions; engaging with user groups and access panels; and providing ongoing advice from design through construction and handover. You must demonstrate proven experience delivering accessibility consultancy on comparable large-scale, complex projects in the UK, particularly those involving cultural institutions, public buildings, operational facilities, and heritage-sensitive contexts. This is a prestigious opportunity to shape inclusive access at one of the UK's leading cultural institutions.
