Peatland Restoration Works at Springmount Bog, County Antrim

Ulster Wildlife is seeking qualified contractors to deliver peatland restoration works at Springmount Bog, Co Antrim, as part of the PEAT+ cross-border restoration initiative supported by PEACEPLUS and managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB). The project includes scrub and tree clearance (2.1 hectares), installation of multiple types of peat and timber dams (155 small peat dams, 19 large peat dams, 2 composite dams, 42 small timber dams, and 10 large timber dams), and ground profiling and bunding works (224 meters of reprofiling, 1,238 meters of deep/trench bunding, and 2,707 meters of surface bunding). Contractors must strictly adhere to conditions outlined in the tender documents to minimize disturbance to priority habitats and species, and will be provided with a mapping application on a smartphone showing intervention locations and real-time positioning during site work.
