    Brief

Ulster Wildlife is seeking qualified contractors to remove invasive plant species from Ballynahone Bog Special Area of Conservation (SAC) in Northern Ireland. This project is part of PEAT+, a cross-border peatland restoration initiative funded by PEACEPLUS and managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB). The work involves treating and removing 6.1 hectares of rhododendron and cherry laurel across 3 phases, plus 2 hectares of scrub removal using various control techniques. These invasive evergreen species shade out native sphagnum mosses and bog vegetation, damage peat formation, and degrade the ecosystem. Removing them will restore water table stability and create conditions for habitat recovery. Successful contractors must strictly follow tender conditions to minimize disturbance to priority habitats and species. A mapping app will be provided to show intervention locations and operator position on site. A mandatory pre-tender site visit is required. Detailed specifications are provided in the Request for Tenders (RFT) and Schedule 1 of the Request for Quotation (RFQ).
