Air Springs Supply for Victoria Line 09TS Trains

This Contract Award Notice is issued under the Procurement Act 2023 to notify suppliers of the intention to award a contract for the supply of air springs for the Victoria Line 09TS fleet. An 8-working-day standstill period applies, during which the contract will not be executed. Air springs are safety-critical components that form the secondary suspension system of the trains. They directly affect ride quality, passenger comfort, dynamic stability, and compliance with kinematic gauge requirements under all operating conditions. The air springs were originally designed and manufactured by ContiTech to bespoke specifications provided by Alstom (the train builder). The design incorporates proprietary rubber formulations and unique manufacturing processes protected as trade secrets. Only the original equipment manufacturer (ContiTech) and its authorised distributor, Dellner Ferrabyrne Limited, can supply fully compatible parts. This is a direct award contract. Procurement of genuine OEM (original equipment manufacturer) air springs ensures technical compliance, reduces safety risks, and supports safe operation and maintenance of the Victoria Line.
