    Brief

    The National Gallery seeks an experienced MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) Engineering Consultant to design and deliver building services for a new wing at its Trafalgar Square location in London. This is a comprehensive engagement covering all RIBA design and delivery stages (1-7). Key responsibilities include: • Leading MEP design development from concept through to completion, ensuring alignment with the architectural vision and project objectives • Producing detailed engineering deliverables at each RIBA stage: calculations, technical reports, drawings, schematics, schedules, specifications and coordination documentation • Managing coordination between MEP systems, the architect, structural/civil engineers, specialist consultants and the wider project team, while accounting for existing building services and operational constraints • Securing Building Regulations approval and statutory compliance; supporting planning and heritage authority submissions with technical input • Managing procurement including tender documentation, responding to supplier queries, and supporting design refinement during contractor selection • Providing on-site construction support including request-for-information responses, design reviews, commissioning, inspection witnessing, and defect rectification support through to project handover The successful consultant must demonstrate proven capability in complex building services design, stakeholder coordination, and delivery of major projects within heritage and sensitive urban contexts.
