    Brief

The Bonn University Hospital (UKB) is planning to implement an innovative logistics concept called "SmartLogisticNetwork". This project is a key part of the strategic reorientation of internal supply and disposal on the Venusberg campus. The goal is to establish an efficient, automated, and sustainable logistics system to support existing and new hospital buildings, particularly the Heart Center currently under construction, as well as other facilities on the northern and southern parts of the campus. The SmartLogisticNetwork consists of several sub-projects, including an underground logistics tunnel for automated connections between central supply points, multiple connection structures for vertical and horizontal access to buildings, a driverless transport system (FTS) for automated goods distribution, a new logistics center, and a modern waste management center. The project is divided into two construction phases to ensure the rapid commissioning of the FTS system for the Heart Center and northern clinical areas. The planning focuses on the technical equipment of the logistics center and waste management center, as well as their structural connection to the tunnel system and adjacent existing buildings. The project adheres to the internal technical standards of UKB, particularly regarding automation, hygiene, occupational safety, and energy efficiency. The underground logistics tunnel will be constructed using either open construction methods or pressurized methods, requiring comprehensive site clearance, especially in the tunnel area, connection structures, and logistics and waste centers. Existing underground supply lines have been identified in the planning and need to be relocated. Existing traffic routes must be redirected. A key component is the connection structure for the supply center/apothecary, which will be executed both underground and above ground. The FTS is the backbone of the SmartLogisticNetwork, deployed throughout the tunnel and connected to the buildings via automated transfer points. The system's control center will be located in the planned logistics center. The vehicles will operate on predefined, programmed routes and autonomously communicate with door controls and elevators. The system will connect various buildings, transporting pharmacy products, medical supplies, laundry, food, sterilized goods, and waste. The project is structured into several sub-projects, with each sub-project divided into multiple sub-areas, and will be realized in several phases. An open European tender has been issued for the canal construction and culvert work.
