Tile and Flooring Works at Mendelstraße 6

SBH | Schulbau Hamburg is a state-owned enterprise of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, responsible for planning, constructing, maintaining, and managing school properties while considering educational needs and economic principles. This project at Mendelstraße involves a significant restructuring of the site, including the centralization of technical facilities. The new building will house administrative areas, a multifunctional kitchen for 300-600 students, a cafeteria, and specialized classrooms. The spacious cafeteria and community area with a stage will serve as a gathering place on the ground floor. The upper floor will feature two large compartments, connected by a central staircase with necessary corridors. Heating will be provided through district heating, and photovoltaic panels will be installed on the roof. The new construction will receive funding for climate-friendly building (KfN) and aims for DGNB Gold certification. The chosen structural system includes a wooden beam ceiling with Delta Beam, which facilitates construction time and allows for future repurposing and the use of sustainable building materials. The exterior will feature a wooden facade, similar to the adjacent Hamburg classroom building.
