Flood Protection Works – Reconstruction of the Żelazna Polder. Stage II.

This contract involves the reconstruction of the existing Żelazna polder in Opole, which includes upgrading existing water management structures and constructing new facilities to increase its capacity and protect against floodwaters from the Odra River. The project aims to safeguard areas in Opole, including the special economic zone on Północna Street, residential areas on Partyzancka Street, and the northern bypass of Opole, as well as the Dąbrowa municipality (Żelazna). The investment has a regional significance as it will flatten the flood wave and reduce flows in the Odra valley downstream of the polder, thereby decreasing flood risk in towns along the Odra River in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, including Oława and Wrocław. Stage II of the Żelazna Polder reconstruction is the final phase of the project, which includes completing the reconstruction of the Odra River embankments over a length of 4.13 km, along with associated structures such as the upper inlet embankment
