Mobile Modular Container Buildings for School Expansion

SBH | Schulbau Hamburg, a state-owned enterprise of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, is responsible for planning, constructing, maintaining, and managing school properties while considering educational needs and economic principles. They also lease over 400 schools to the Authority for School and Vocational Education (BSB). This project involves the expansion of the Carl-Götze-School with the construction of a two-court sports hall and a daycare center. The total floor area of the building is approximately 2,216 square meters. The sports hall is designed according to DIN standards, making it suitable for competitions. A small gallery for spectators is included above the ancillary rooms. The western part of the building will have two floors of additional space for the adjacent daycare center. The site is characterized by its tree population. Deliveries and site access will be via Brödermannsweg 2, near the sports hall and fire department access, located in the southern part of the school property. The new building will be constructed using solid construction methods, with floor slabs and some walls made of reinforced concrete. Other load-bearing walls will be made of masonry or reinforced concrete. The hall roof will feature a steel support structure, and the facade will be designed as a double-skin brick facade, partially with thin bricks.
