    Brief

North Northamptonshire Council seeks a specialist principal contractor to undertake a comprehensive electrical rewire at Marlow Court, a 33-flat sheltered housing scheme in Corby. The building, constructed in the mid-1960s with 1970s extensions, requires modernization due to aging infrastructure posing fire risks and limiting resident services. Key scope includes: • Replacement of deteriorated communal lighting and power wiring to eliminate fire hazards • Upgrade of sub-main supply cables to enable installation of free-standing cookers and electric showers, improving tenant quality of life and enabling wet room adaptations • Relocation of the meter room from an unsafe, elevated position to ground floor level to improve accessibility and health and safety compliance • Installation of appropriately located socket outlets with staff-only controls to prevent misuse as scooter charging points and maintain fire safety • Installation and commissioning of new smart meters throughout the scheme • Enhanced energy efficiency through modern fittings and accessories Works must be executed within an occupied building requiring careful planning to maintain continuous power supply during transition from existing to new systems. The successful contractor will liaise closely with the Council's design consultancy and National Grid. Suppliers should have demonstrated experience delivering complex electrical projects in occupied buildings and established working relationships with Distribution Network Operators.
