    Brief

The Natural History Museum is seeking a principal contractor for the initial phase of the Collections Store Refurbishment (CSR) Project, part of the NHM Unlocked Programme. This project supports the relocation of 39 million specimens globally and the museum's 150th Anniversary Campaign. The scope of work involves refurbishing basement rooms (B.03, B.07, B.07B-H, B.07J, and BC05) in the Grade I Listed Waterhouse Building to create a temporary Logistics Hub and permanent collections store. Key works include: - Demolition of non-original partitions, raised floors, and offices - Construction of a new security lobby with powered door access - Repairs to damaged fabric and flooring with pest ingress prevention measures - Window and door restoration, including secondary glazing installation - Complete building services design and installation (HVAC, electrical, fire alarm, security, BMS, and controls) - All works performed in compliance with fire strategy requirements and protection of historic features The Logistics Hub is critical to enabling the sequencing of specimen moves, including the relocation of the Old General Herbarium, moves to Thames Valley Science Park, and the sale of the South London Collections Facility. Following completion of decant activities, the space will transition to permanent use as a collections store for Heavy and Large Objects from the Mineralogy and Palaeontology collections. This is the first of a phased tender program; a separate opportunity for Main Works across four additional areas will be announced subsequently.
