Outsourced Neurology Services for Barking, Havering & Redbridge University Hospital NHS Trust

Barking, Havering & Redbridge University Hospital NHS Trust (BHRUT) is awarding a contract for outsourced general neurology services under the Provider Selection Regime (PSR) Direct Award Process C. The successful provider will treat approximately 700 patients and support BHRUT in reducing waiting lists and improving patient access to care. Services include the complete patient pathway from outpatient appointments through treatment, follow-up care (where clinically necessary), and discharge back to the referring clinician or GP. All diagnostic services will be provided by the provider, except for DaT scans which will be referred back to BHRUT. Patients requiring long-term follow-up for conditions such as Epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis, or Parkinson's will be discharged to their GP with recommendations for expedited re-referral to BHRUT. The provider must ensure secure management of all patient information and clinical records, with prompt discharge summaries sent to referring clinicians. The contract value is £462,000 and runs from 18 September 2026 to 31 March 2027. This contract is being awarded to Gutcare Ltd (Medcare World) based on their status as the current incumbent provider, integrated service delivery, demonstrated value for money, local availability, and to minimize disruption to patient care. The standstill period for representations closes on 17 September 2026. This procurement operates under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023 and falls outside the scope of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and Procurement Act 2023.
