Outsourced Chronic Pain Management Services for BHRUT

Barking, Havering & Redbridge University Hospital NHS Trust is awarding a contract for outsourced chronic pain management services to Spire Healthcare Group PLC under the Provider Selection Regime (PSR) Direct Award Process C. The contract will provide pain management assessments and treatment for approximately 400 adult patients currently on NHS waiting lists, with a lifetime value of £285,000 from 3 September 2026 to 31 March 2027. The provider will accept RTT-eligible patient referrals, deliver consultant pain medicine assessments and clinically appropriate follow-up treatments, manage patient information securely, and provide timely clinical correspondence to the Trust. This direct award is justified based on the provider's current high-quality service delivery, full integration into the patient care pathway, demonstrated value for money, local accessibility, and the disruption that would result from changing providers. This procurement is governed by the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023 and falls outside the scope of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and Procurement Act 2023.
