Control Software for Multi-Stage Motion Control System

Project seeks control software to manage six identical motion control modules, each containing four motorized stages (x-y, tilt goniometric, and rotational). The system uses custom integrated 485 bus-type closed-loop stepper drivers (IRS42E-K02) connected via RS232 serial communication. Currently, a single controller box manages all six modules through individual output cables (limited to 2m length), with each module's stages daisy-chained via RS232 connections. The software must interface with the existing hardware controller via RS232-to-USB connection to send control signals to specific motors across 24 total motors (6 modules × 4 stages each). Signals are routed through the chain of stages until reaching the target motor. The solution may either integrate with the existing control box or provide a new controller interface. Key requirements include reliable serial communication, multi-module coordination, addressing individual motors within the daisy-chain architecture, and user-friendly command functionality. Supporting documentation includes hardware diagrams, motor specifications, and module photographs.
