    Brief

This opportunity involves supplying and implementing an integrated, route-wide VoIP-based operational telephone communications system for the HS2 high-speed rail project. The system will serve key infrastructure locations across the network, including the National Integrated Command Centre (NICC), four major stations (Euston, Old Oak Common, Curzon Street), depots, and trackside locations, supporting approximately 3,635 end devices in total. The Operational Telephone System comprises multiple integrated components: redundant SIP telephony servers at primary and secondary locations, station-specific SIP servers at each of the four HS2 stations, voice recording capabilities, HMI touchscreens for operations staff, and diverse IP telephony equipment tailored to specific environments. Equipment types include fallback desk phones for operators, equipment room phones, high-noise environment intercoms for tunnel ventilation areas, ruggedised trackside and tunnel phones designed to withstand aerodynamic effects at 360kph line speeds, and refuge area help points with induction loops. Additional system components include Computer Telephony Integration (CTI) capabilities with softphone clients and software development kits, PSTN connectivity, a Session Border Controller for external SIP trunk connections, management and maintenance terminals, and full hardware and software/firmware delivery. Suppliers may propose virtualization of certain elements such as SIP servers. The system must interface with multiple HS2 systems including the Engineering Management System for alarm management, Train Dispatch System via softphone client, Station Information Management System, lift phones, Cross Passage PAVA systems for announcements, and the Network Rail Telephony Network. A reference system demonstrating core components will be supplied as part of the tender package.
