Ballycoolin Electric Bus Depot - Design and Build Contract

The National Transport Authority (NTA) is procuring a Design and Build contract for the Ballycoolin Bus Depot in Dublin, with AECOM serving as Employer's Representative and technical advisor. This project supports the BusConnects Dublin initiative and the Government's decarbonisation agenda by creating modern facilities for electric buses. The depot will accommodate approximately 180 electric buses and include administrative offices (2,520 m²), vehicle washing facilities (1,120 m²), maintenance and repair bays (2,680 m²), inspection facilities (510 m²), electrical infrastructure including an electrical substation compound and seven transformer buildings, car parking (57 standard spaces plus accessible and EV spaces), cycle parking, and gate/security facilities. The facility is designed to support Dublin's public transport expansion, provide dedicated EV maintenance and charging infrastructure, and accommodate operational and administrative staff. This integrated facility strengthens Dublin's public transport infrastructure while advancing sustainability and transport electrification objectives.
