    Brief

The Food Standards Authority (FSA) is seeking support to review and potentially optimize the methodology of the UK National Diet and Nutrition Survey (NDNS). The NDNS is a rolling programme that collects data on diet, nutrient intake, and nutritional status across the UK population. This data is essential for the FSA's food safety risk assessments, particularly for exposure assessment—which estimates how much of a hazard (such as contaminants, additives, or pesticide residues) consumers may ingest through their diet. The NDNS is co-funded by the Department of Health and Social Care and the FSA. This project aims to investigate potential methodological changes that would optimize data collection for food safety exposure assessment purposes, while maintaining compliance with requirements from other stakeholder organizations. Suppliers with expertise in survey methodology, nutritional epidemiology, food safety risk assessment, or dietary data collection are encouraged to propose solutions.
