Real-Time Transport Events Data Access

The Department for Transport seeks access to structured, historical, and near real-time event data covering England to identify when, where, and what types of transport-related events occur (including road incidents, disruptions, and major public events). This data will serve multiple critical functions: establishing ground truth for validating social media signals captured through APIs like Pulsar; analyzing the correlation between real-world transport events and social media activity including volume, topics, and sentiment; determining which event types trigger social media responses to assess data reliability; and supporting the development and testing of detection, classification, and prioritization models for situational awareness applications. Access to this external, curated event dataset is essential for reliable interpretation of social media data, validation of analytical methodologies, and confirmation that observed signals reflect genuine transport events rather than noise or misinformation.
