Clean Energy Skills Demand Report for the North West

Enterprise Cheshire and Warrington (ECW) is a council-owned organization that collaborates with local councils, industry leaders, and community partners to enhance the region's health, sustainability, inclusivity, and economic growth. ECW works on various initiatives, including economic and transport strategies, skills training, and business support, ensuring that local businesses have a voice in decision-making. The organization also promotes Cheshire and Warrington as an excellent place to live, work, and invest. In line with the North West's Clean Power ambitions, as outlined in the recent North West Clean Power Paper, there is a pressing need to prepare the workforce and supply chain for upcoming energy and infrastructure projects. These projects are essential for achieving the Clean Power 2030 goals and driving economic growth in the region. To ensure local benefits, it is crucial to involve local residents, suppliers, and educational institutions in this transition. Significant research has been conducted on workforce readiness and availability in key sectors, including the Regional Skills Pilot and North West Retrofit Skills Plan. To aid in future planning, ECW, on behalf of the North West Net Zero Hub and the Office for Clean Energy Jobs, is seeking consultancy support to create a comprehensive report. This report will analyze the anticipated demand for clean energy jobs and skills in the North West over the next decade, identifying peak demand periods and potential collaboration opportunities across different clean energy sectors.
