    Brief

The Defence Medical Services Research Steering Group (DMSRSG) is the primary funding mechanism for military-relevant medical research within Defence Medical Services. This opportunity supports research projects that are scientifically robust, militarily relevant, and demonstrate value for money. Eligible Research: Projects must be predominantly medical or healthcare-focused and can employ qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods approaches. Research can range from foundational science through to applied research at any technology readiness level (TRL). Early-stage or foundational science proposals must demonstrate a feasible pathway to impact on clinical delivery or operational capability. Funding: There is no upper limit per application, though the overall budget available at each DMSRSG meeting is approximately £500,000 shared among multiple successful proposals. Funding requests should be proportionate to the proposed activity and may span multiple years. Process: The Expression of Interest (EOI) process is open year-round with no fixed deadline. Priority research areas are specified in the calling notice. All proposals are evaluated on military relevance, scientific quality, and cost-effectiveness.
