    Brief

India is rapidly expanding its energy supply to meet growth and development goals while committing to a significant energy transition. The government aims for 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy and a 45% reduction in emissions intensity by 2030, with goals of energy independence by 2047 and net zero by 2070. The power sector is transforming to support decarbonization, energy security, and modernization of the grid. This initiative, funded by UK PACT, seeks expert technical support to deploy Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in five Indian states: Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra. The project aims to improve grid flexibility, reliability, and renewable energy integration through tailored assessments and capacity building with state electricity distribution companies (DISCOMs). Suppliers will collaborate with DISCOMs to: - Conduct feasibility studies for BESS - Identify optimal sites and technologies - Develop financial models and implementation strategies - Support capacity building and knowledge transfer Interested suppliers or consortia should review the Request for Quotation (RfQ) documentation and submit proposals by the deadline. The RfQ includes: - Schedule 1: Terms of Reference - Schedule 2: Submission Instructions - Schedule 3: Terms and Conditions - Annex I: RFQ Response Form - Annex II: Budget and Workplan Template - Annex III: Clarification Question Template.
