    Brief

Tyndall National Institute at University College Cork is seeking tenders for a comprehensive Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) Suite comprising three integrated instruments: an Aberration-corrected and monochromated TEM with sub-ångström resolution, a 200 kV high-throughput TEM for routine analysis, and a Focused Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscope (FIB-SEM) for sample preparation and 3D structural analysis. The successful supplier must provide supply, delivery, and installation of all three instruments as an integrated suite from a single manufacturer to ensure technical coherence, unified software control, consistent user interface, and simplified maintenance and warranty arrangements. The suite will support advanced materials and device characterisation for semiconductor, photonic, and quantum technologies research, including atomic-scale imaging, spectroscopy, in-situ experimentation, and nanoscale analysis. Key requirements include sub-ångström imaging resolution, high-energy-resolution spectroscopy, low-dose operation for beam-sensitive materials, Lorentz and 4D-STEM imaging, automated alignment, optical stability, multi-user accessibility, rapid operational stability, and seamless workflow integration between instruments. The procurement represents a significant investment in Ireland's research infrastructure and will strengthen Tyndall's international leadership, support EU Chips Act activities, and enable long-term collaboration with academic and industrial stakeholders across Europe and globally.
