Traffic Signal and Pedestrian Crossing Upgrades on Wetherby Road

This project involves the replacement of aged traffic signal infrastructure and installation of new signals at currently uncontrolled pedestrian crossings on Wetherby Road. Work includes upgrading existing signals to MOVA (Microprocessor Optimized Vehicle Algorithm) control systems and associated civil engineering works such as ducting installation and carriageway reinstatement. A streetworks permit has been approved from 5 October 2026 to 20 November 2026. All works must be substantially completed by 21 November 2026, as a Christmas embargo takes effect on this date. Following the embargo, all traffic management must be removed and the site made safe if works are not finished. Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) must be completed before the embargo begins. Minor snagging works may be permissible in January 2027, subject to streetworks approval. MOVA validation testing can proceed in January or February 2027 after main construction activities are complete.
