    Brief

JNCC is seeking support to refine and update the biogeographic applicability of the Marine Habitat Classification for Britain and Ireland (MHCBI) and EUNIS biotope communities. This work will improve the accuracy of sensitivity assessments used in MarLIN MarESA, a tool that evaluates environmental impacts on marine ecosystems. The project focuses on offshore Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and aims to ensure that sensitivity evidence is applied only where ecologically relevant, reducing overly precautionary advice based on broad sensitivity ranges. Suppliers should have expertise in marine habitat classification, biogeographic analysis, and sensitivity assessment methodologies.
