    Brief

Ireland's national High Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure reached end of life in November 2023. To maintain research computational capability during the procurement and commissioning of a new Irish HPC platform, this contract (CON1591/2023) provides access to specialist HPC infrastructure and technical support on equivalent foreign systems. ICHEC allocates compute cycles and storage resources to eligible Irish researchers based on scientific and technical merit review. Suppliers offer HPC infrastructure access, storage capacity, and associated technical support. Billing is usage-based: ICHEC is invoiced only for the actual compute resources and storage space consumed by allocated researchers. This interim arrangement ensures continuity of service for the Irish research community while the permanent national HPC system is developed and deployed.
