Local Area Network and Voice Over Internet Protocol System Replacement

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS), the UK's fourth-largest fire and rescue service serving 2.2 million people across 800 square miles with approximately 1,500 staff, is seeking qualified suppliers for an upcoming tender to replace its Local Area Network (LAN) and Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) systems. The tender is expected to be issued in August/September 2026 and will comprise two separate lots: Lot 1 - VoIP (estimated budget £150,000-£200,000): Replacement of Cisco UCS servers and UCM platform; migration to AudioCodes SBC; replacement of call recording and desk phones; integration with Microsoft Teams; and provision of ongoing support and maintenance throughout the contract term. Lot 2 - LAN (estimated budget £550,000-£650,000): Replacement of core, distribution, and access layer switching infrastructure across all sites; provision of high availability and resilience; network segmentation and security controls; OSPF dynamic routing support; and integration with existing monitoring and management platforms. The contract will run for a minimum of 5 years with optional extensions of +1 and +1 year periods (maximum 7 years total). Budgets include hardware, software, support, maintenance, and training. WYFRS is committed to maintaining on-premise solutions for both systems due to the critical nature of fire and rescue operations and will not consider cloud-based alternatives. Suppliers are encouraged to register with WYFRS's E-Procurement system (In-tend) to receive official tender documentation upon publication. The existing contracts expire on 31st March 2027.
