Pain Management Services for Barking, Havering & Redbridge University Hospital NHS Trust

Barking, Havering & Redbridge University Hospital NHS Trust is awarding a contract for outsourced Chronic Pain Services for Adults to Nuffield Health (The Holly Hospital) under the Provider Selection Regime Direct Award Process C. The service will treat approximately 400 adult patients currently on the Referral to Treatment (RTT) waiting list, offering assessments and clinically appropriate treatments to reduce waiting times and improve patient access. The provider will accept eligible RTT patient referrals, deliver outpatient Consultant Pain Medicine assessments, provide follow-up appointments and treatment within their scope, manage secure patient records and clinical correspondence, and return patients to the Trust when clinical needs exceed their capabilities. The contract value is £285,000 and will run from 3 September 2026 to 31 March 2027. This award is being made without competitive tendering because Nuffield Health is the current service provider with a proven track record of high-quality, integrated service delivery that represents value for money and would minimize disruption to patients. This is an intention to award notice under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023, and the standstill period for representations closes on 2 September 2026.
