    Brief

The Brewery Turnback Project is an enhancement initiative funded by the Department for Transport (DfT). Previously known as the Manchester Victoria East Turnback, this project has been prioritized for early development based on the Central Manchester Capacity and Performance study, aiming to improve capacity and resilience in the area. The project involves the design and construction of a west-facing turnback facility located at Brewery Junction. At Victoria station, the through platforms currently serve both through and terminating trains, leading to limited availability for through services due to the time required for trains to terminate and turn back. By implementing a turnback facility to the east of the station, operational flexibility will be enhanced, allowing for better service recovery during disruptions. The turnback will accommodate trains up to 6 cars (26 meters) in length, including Diesel Multiple Units (DMUs) and Electric Multiple Units (EMUs), with access from Platforms 3-6 at Manchester Victoria station. The need for this facility was identified in the Manchester Network Transformation Programme (MNTP), as it would alleviate constraints on platform availability and improve overall performance. The scope of work for the Electrical and Mechanical (M&E) components includes the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of small power and lighting systems. This encompasses various elements such as Distribution Network Operator (DNO) cubicles, mains distribution equipment, 400V and 230V cabling, bollard lighting, buffer stop lighting, and associated controls. Additionally, all deliverables, including red line drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, eclipse updates, and participation in AMP016 walkouts, are required.
