Water Supply Services in Emmen

The municipality of Emmen currently has 3,263 water meters maintained by the Emmen Water Supply (WVE). Over the past ten years, approximately 1,200 manual water meters have been replaced with meters equipped with an additional radio module, which are read annually using a drive-by method. The remaining 2,100 water meters are still read manually by the water supply staff. Currently, only standard meter readings are required, but if additional data can be collected, it must be possible to deactivate these readings individually to ensure that only relevant information for the municipality of Emmen is transmitted. With the transition to drive-by reading for all water meters, the supplier's system must be able to transmit data in an appropriate format. Currently, data is transferred via an XML file through a reading interface into the municipality's Innosolvcity system. To ensure efficient use of resources and ecological responsibility, the project will not replace radio water meters that are less than 10 years old and still meet requirements. Therefore, it must be possible to merge data from existing water meters with radio modules and the new system into a single file without additional effort.
