Gynaecology Outsourcing Services for Barking, Havering & Redbridge University Hospital NHS Trust

Barking, Havering & Redbridge University Hospital NHS Trust (BHRUT) intends to award a contract to Spire Healthcare Group PLC for outsourced gynaecology services under the Provider Selection Regime (PSR) Direct Award Process C. This contract covers the complete elective gynaecology pathway for approximately 500 patients currently on waiting lists, with a lifetime value of £310,000 from 4 September 2026 to 31 March 2027. The service encompasses three clinical pathways: General Gynaecology, Vulval Disorders, and Menopause Services, including procedures such as hysterectomy, diagnostic laparoscopy, cystectomy, endometrial ablation, and prolapse surgery. The provider will deliver the full patient journey from initial outpatient consultation through diagnostics, treatment planning, medical management, office-based procedures, follow-up care, and discharge with clinical summaries sent to referring clinicians. The provider maintains clinical responsibility for patients throughout their pathway and has access to necessary diagnostic and treatment facilities to complete care without unnecessary transfers back to BHRUT. This direct award is justified based on the provider's current performance as incumbent, service integration, demonstrated value for money, local accessibility, and minimal disruption to patient treatment. This procurement falls outside Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and Procurement Act 2023 and is governed by the Healthcare Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023.
