    Brief

The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham is seeking a contractor for the repair of a culvert on Choats Road. The culvert is a twin bore corrugated steel structure that has experienced structural failures, leading to a road load restriction of 7.5 tonnes to ensure public safety. The selected contractor will be responsible for designing and installing a GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) lining solution to restore the culvert's capacity. The project will be divided into three phases: Pre-design, Design, and Construction. In the Pre-design Phase, the contractor will conduct a survey to confirm the culvert's dimensions and the riverbed's construction. A Flood Risk Activity Permit has already been granted for this work. During the Design Phase, the contractor must prepare design and construction information for the Council's Phase 2 Flood Risk Activity Permit application, which is necessary for obtaining permissions from the Environment Agency. They will also need to create detailed designs, specifications, and temporary works designs based on the approved Application for Permission (AIP). In the Construction Phase, the contractor will clean the culvert, install the GRP lining, manage site preparations, provide temporary works, and conduct pre- and post-installation surveys. Throughout the project, the contractor must ensure reasonable access for the client and appointed agents to conduct environmental surveys in support of the Environment Agency Permit applications.
