Contaminated Land Remediation at Curzon Wharf

This contract involves the remediation of contaminated land at the Curzon Wharf site, where Light Non-Aqueous Phase Liquids (LNAPL) have been detected. The project will be carried out in at least two stages. The first stage includes measuring LNAPL thicknesses in five monitoring wells using an oil/water interface dip meter, sampling from these wells, and conducting laboratory tests for specific hydrocarbons (TPH) and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene (BTEX). Following this, any LNAPL will be manually removed and disposed of. The second stage involves excavating the original well location to a depth of approximately 5.5 meters, logging the sidewalls for oil seepage, segregating and testing contaminated soil, and verifying the condition of the excavation base and sidewalls. A sump will be utilized to collect LNAPL and contaminated water until the source is eliminated. Depending on the findings from the first two stages, a third stage of remediation may be necessary, which could involve additional remediation techniques such as installing more wells, further excavation, or chemical treatment. A verification report will be required upon completion of the work.
