Spain – Supply and Installation of Equipment for Sustainable Synthetic Fuels Production

The Cubillos del Sil Technology Development Center, part of the Ciudad de la Energía Foundation, is seeking a comprehensive solution for an experimental platform to produce sustainable synthetic fuels (SSF), such as Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), biofuels, and other products derived from green hydrogen and captured CO₂. This initiative is driven by the increasing importance of chemical energy storage in the form of molecules, allowing for energy to be stored and used at a later time. The platform will focus on synthesizing SSF using Fischer-Tropsch technology, utilizing syngas generated from biomass, green hydrogen, and biogenic CO₂. It will also enable testing of advanced technological pathways and integration with existing energy storage systems at the center. The solution must include the supply, installation, and commissioning of all necessary equipment and systems, ensuring integration with existing infrastructures while adhering to energy efficiency, waste minimization, and resource reuse criteria. This contract is part of the investment in Just Transition, specifically in R&D projects related to energy storage and efficiency, contributing to the objectives outlined in the Just Transition Strategy. The contract is classified as mixed, encompassing both supply and service components, with the supply being the primary focus due to its higher estimated value. Both components are interdependent, as the experimental platform cannot be realized without the necessary engineering for its design.
