Construction of New Connection Building at Zurich Airport

This project involves the construction of a new connection building between Terminal 2 and Bus Gate South B15 at Zurich Airport, replacing the existing walkway. The new building will enhance access to the bus gate on level G1 and will include special areas on level G0 for First Class and PRM (Persons with Reduced Mobility) passengers. A turbine bar will be established on the top floor G2 as part of the new Swiss First Class Lounge. The connection building is designed to accommodate various specialized processes to meet the different needs of passenger groups, including optimized control processes and covered parking areas for limousines and special vehicles. The project will prepare the raw construction area for the future Swiss First Class Lounge and the full development of the PRM waiting area on level G1 of Terminal 2. Most technical installations for the lounge will be located on level G3 of Terminal 2. New requirements, such as a smoking lounge, will necessitate additional technical facilities in the southern technical yard. The new building will have its own technical room on G2 with electrical supply and ventilation systems. The structural design of the connection building will align with adjacent buildings, featuring a load-bearing structure made of steel beams and ceilings constructed from hollow core slabs with over-concrete. The design aims for the new building to be perceived as an integrated part of the existing structures, both externally and internally. The facade design will be similar to that of Bus Gate B15, and materials from the surrounding buildings will be used in the interior construction. The work includes static demolitions of existing structures, demolition of interior fittings including building services installations, facade demolition, flat roof, steel construction, foundations, and expansions of the connection corridor, disposal of demolition materials, demolition of coverings, excavation for the construction pit, pile foundations, and open water management.
