    Brief

The Lower Saxony State Authority for Road Construction and Traffic - Lingen Division is seeking suppliers to construct a replacement structure for the LIN3 bridge over the Dortmund-Ems Canal along the B70 highway near Lingen, Germany. The existing bridge has sustained damage to its steel structure, necessitating its replacement. The B70 runs north-south through Lower Saxony, connecting various towns including Leer, Papenburg, Meppen, and Lingen. The bridge is located at station 2.697 in section 170 of the B70, north of Lingen in the Emsland district, with Lingen being the nearest city. The project requires basic services for performance phases 5 and 6 of the object planning for traffic facilities, along with special services. According to traffic counts from 2021, the average daily traffic in this section is approximately 9,600 vehicles, with about 10% being heavy traffic. The maximum speed limit in the bridge area is 100 km/h. The federal road is classified as RAL design class EKL II. The cross-section for the road is to be RQ 11.5+ and for the bridge, it is to be RQ 11.5B. The existing structure is a single-span steel arch bridge with a suspended roadway, measuring a total length of 83.70 meters. The superstructure consists of an orthotropic steel deck, built in 1975 (further details can be found in the structure book). The Dortmund-Ems Canal crosses the roadway at an angle of approximately 44.8 degrees. A paved bike path runs along the north side, while a service road is on the south side. The replacement structure will be built east of the existing bridge, with the construction area extending from station 2.092 to station 2.990 in section 170. The longitudinal slope on the bridge will be 0.7%. The new alignment of the B70 will exit the existing embankment with a crest curve (in the section R=880m). The Dortmund-Ems Canal will be crossed with a straight section of 210 meters. The total length of the construction area is approximately 895 meters, with maintenance bays planned in both directions behind the structure. The replacement structure will be constructed as a steel composite arch bridge, requiring a pre-assembly site planned on the eastern side of the existing road embankment. Dimensions will be determined according to the bridge design requirements.
