Construction of New School Building and Renovation of Erich Kästner School in Marburg

The Erich Kästner School complex in Marburg-Cappel consists of several buildings that currently lack a cohesive design and a clear entrance, making it difficult for visitors to identify the school. The existing facilities do not meet the current needs, leading to some after-school programs being relocated. The current layout does not support modern educational concepts, and the existing buildings have significant issues, including lack of accessibility, functional deficiencies, structural problems, inadequate fire safety, and energy inefficiency. As a result, it has been decided to demolish buildings B and K and replace them with a new structure that will include additional spaces for after-school care and a cafeteria. The new building will also provide a clearly defined entrance to enhance the school's visibility. Buildings A, G, F, H, and I will remain in use, with various educational and administrative functions. The project includes the construction of a new single-story addition to building A, which will house technical rooms and storage. The new school building will consist of two rectangular structures connected by a central entrance hall, with a three-story southern building and a two-story northern building. The entrance hall will serve as a central hub for the school, providing access to classrooms and common areas, and will be designed to facilitate communication and interaction among students. The cafeteria will be available for community use outside of school hours. Each floor will feature clusters of classrooms designed to promote collaborative learning and provide necessary facilities for students and teachers.
