Construction of New School Building and Renovation of Erich Kästner School in Marburg

The Erich Kästner School complex in Marburg-Cappel consists of several buildings that currently lack a cohesive design and a clear entrance. The existing facilities do not meet the needs of the school, leading to some after-school programs being relocated. The current buildings have significant issues, including lack of accessibility, functional deficiencies, structural problems, inadequate fire safety, and energy inefficiency. As a result, buildings B and K will be demolished and replaced with a new structure that will include additional spaces for care and a cafeteria. The new building will also provide a recognizable entrance for the school. Buildings A, G, F, H, and I will remain. Building A will house administration, a staff room, and therapy rooms, while building G will serve as specialized classrooms for music and crafts. The new construction will feature two rectangular buildings connected by a central entrance hall, with a three-story southern building and a two-story northern building. The entrance hall will serve as a central communication zone for students and will include a large dining room with a kitchen, which will be available for community events outside school hours. The upper floors will contain classrooms organized into clusters, promoting a collaborative learning environment.
