Mass Spectrometers – Supply of an Ultra-High-Resolution Liquid Chromatography System with Triple Quadrupole Mass Spectrometry Detection for the Instrumental Techniques Laboratory at the University of León

The acquisition is necessary due to the obsolescence of the current equipment, which has outdated technical characteristics and limited support from the supplying company, ensuring neither the supply of spare parts nor repair in case of breakdown. Given the high usage and demand for this equipment both internally and externally, its existence is considered essential under the umbrella of Central Services, which already has experienced personnel for its operation. The equipment to be acquired must be state-of-the-art, with significant improvements in technical characteristics, particularly regarding its extraordinary sensitivity (100 times better than the equipment it aims to replace), resolution, and speed, allowing for the quantification of numerous compounds without compromising sensitivity. The equipment will be used by the technical staff of the LTI and will continue to provide analytical capabilities and offer new fields of action to research groups at ULE, other public research centers, and private companies, foundations, and other institutions with which the LTI already maintains Contracts for Technical Service Provision, being a very important source of funding for the Service.
