    Brief

The Klaus-Groth School, located at Parkstraße 1 in Neumünster, Germany, is undergoing significant renovations following a fire that destroyed the existing sports hall and damaged connecting structures. This project involves the construction of a new sports hall, which will include a connection to the existing school building. The new facility will cover approximately 1,580 square meters and will be designed as a two-court hall, allowing for the separation of the courts with a curtain. It will feature storage rooms for school equipment and separate areas for local sports clubs. The hall is intended for school and club sports activities and will not be used for events. Surrounding the approximately 10-meter high hall will be changing rooms, technical rooms, and additional storage spaces, all designed as a single-story structure. The upper floor of the connecting building will house two classrooms, while the ground floor will provide the entrance to the sports hall, including restrooms. The connection to the existing building will be established on the eastern side, while the sports hall will connect on the western side. The main structure of the sports hall will be made of reinforced concrete, with the ancillary areas constructed from a combination of reinforced concrete and masonry. The roof structure will be wooden. The facade will be finished with prefabricated elements, including reinforced concrete sandwich panels and thermowalls where necessary for structural integrity. The connecting building will feature a profile glass facade that extends into the sports hall, providing natural, diffuse lighting. Integrated windows in the classrooms will ensure natural ventilation and lighting. A green facade will climb the sports hall structure, and green roofs will help integrate the new building into Rencks Park. A photovoltaic system is planned for the roof, and the entire building will be founded on new piles, with existing piles not being utilized. The classrooms will have decentralized ventilation units, while the hall and ancillary rooms will be mechanically ventilated, with the ventilation center located on the ground floor. The project must meet the requirements for an energy-efficient house (KfW 40) and achieve DGNB Silver certification. Further specifications can be found in the tender documents.
