The requested products contribute to the overall objective of Project 4 ALFRED, which involves implementing experimental infrastructure and conducting research and development activities focused on large-scale experiments related to the nuclear safety aspects of lead-cooled fast reactors (LFR). This will enhance research and innovation capabilities and facilitate the adoption of advanced technologies like LFR. Some of the requested software is essential for measurement, automation, and control applications in installations, enabling continuous and discrete simulations or a combination of both. This allows for real-time or accelerated modeling of complex dynamic systems, optimizing and managing electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, and identifying and resolving issues in existing automation systems within Project 4 ALFRED installations. Other software is required for modeling, simulating, and analyzing thermohydraulic, mechanical, or neutron phenomena in installations, such as investigating thermohydraulic phenomena and the mechanical behavior of components and subassemblies in the HELENA-2 installation, simulating operational conditions of the ALFRED reactor in the ELF installation, and examining the interaction between nuclear fuel and molten lead, as well as the transport/retention phenomena of fission products in support of the licensing process for the ALFRED reactor. These activities and sub-activities are defined research tasks within Project 4 ALFRED.
