    Brief

    East London Waste Authority is contracting for comprehensive waste management services valued at approximately £373 million over the full contract term. The selected contractor will provide: waste transfer services including receipt, handling, bulking and haulage of waste; operation and maintenance of two waste transfer stations (Frog Island and Jenkins Lane); operation and maintenance of four recycling and reuse centres (Jenkins Lane, Chigwell Road, Frizlands Lane and Gerpins Lane); operation of a Circular Economy Hub for preparing items for reuse and resale; onward haulage of waste to treatment facilities for residual waste, dry recycling, garden waste and food waste; repair, preparation and recycling of mixed residual waste; management of bring bank sites; waste education and promotional services; management and shredding of waste containing persistent organic pollutants; and site improvement works. The contract commences 7 August 2026, with service delivery starting 23 December 2027. The initial term runs for 10 years and 3 months until 31 March 2038, with an option to extend for up to five additional years. The estimated contract value is based on assumptions about future waste volumes and may be varied by the Authority during the contract term.
