Scaling Up Shared Waste Provision for Businesses - DEFRA Programme

WRAP, on behalf of DEFRA, is seeking to scale up a project that helps non-domestic premises reduce waste management costs and space requirements through shared waste provision. This initiative builds on previous pilot work to generate real-world evidence on how businesses can collaborate on waste and recycling services. Shared provision involves arrangements where neighbouring businesses share waste containers or collection services, helping small and micro businesses reduce costs while improving operational efficiency and supporting compliance with new recycling requirements. The project will test three main models: shared bins (informal arrangements between businesses), shared collection (organised by facilities management companies or landlords), and shared facilities (central waste areas on industrial estates). This opportunity is suitable for organisations experienced in waste management, facilities management, logistics, or supporting small business operations.
