Brewery Turnback Project

The Brewery Turnback Project is an enhancement scheme funded by the Department for Transport (DfT) aimed at improving the capacity and resilience of the Manchester Victoria station. This project, previously known as the Manchester Victoria East Turnback, focuses on designing and delivering a West-facing turnback facility at Brewery Junction. Currently, the through platforms at Victoria station are used for terminating trains, which limits their availability for through services. By implementing a turnback facility to the East of the station, operational flexibility will be enhanced, allowing for quicker turnaround times and improved service recovery during disruptions. The turnback will accommodate trains up to 6 cars in length and will connect to Platforms 3-6 at Manchester Victoria station. The scope of work includes the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of the new turnback facility, which will feature: 1. A provision for a 6-car and buffer stop siding facility 2. Passive provision for an 8-car and buffer stop turnback facility 3. Track drainage All deliverables, including redline drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, and participation in AMP016 walkouts, are required as part of the project. This project is crucial for enhancing the operational efficiency of Manchester Victoria station and is part of the wider MNTP programme.
