Manchester Airport Platform Upgrade - Temporary Works Design

This project involves the redesign of platforms at Manchester International Airport to accommodate longer train services due to increased demand. The current double stacking of trains will no longer be feasible, necessitating additional platform capacity. The initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance train service efficiency in Manchester, aligning with the goals of Network Rail and local transport authorities. Key components of the project include the addition or extension of multiple platforms and the creation of a new turnback facility. This redevelopment will allow for the simultaneous operation of two 144-meter trains on two of the four platforms, ensuring that existing train services can continue without disruption. The project scope includes site preparation, fencing, access routes, temporary bridge systems, piling, bonding, crane access, scaffolding, and drainage work. Suppliers are invited to participate in this significant infrastructure improvement.
