Quantum Computing Hardware Development Programme

UK registered organisations are invited to apply for funding to advance quantum computing hardware and software technologies. This £33 million competition supports the development of device-level hardware and associated software solutions designed to address critical challenges in scale, programmability, and runtime performance for universal fault-tolerant quantum computers. Successful projects will contribute to making quantum computing systems more practical and commercially viable. Funding is available in grants ranging from £1 million to £3.5 million per project. Projects must run for 24 to 36 months, with a mandatory start date of 1 January 2027 or later. This opportunity is designed for industrial research organisations focused on advancing quantum computing hardware technologies and is part of a coordinated research and development initiative to strengthen the UK's quantum computing capability.
