Return to Research Bursary for STFC Scientists

This bursary supports scientists returning to academic research careers after a break of two or more years. Eligible applicants must hold a PhD in STFC core science areas, including astronomy, solar and planetary science, particle physics, particle astrophysics, cosmology, nuclear physics, or accelerator science. The bursary provides up to £2,500 to cover costs associated with developing proposals for STFC fellowship funding, such as conducting literature reviews, familiarising yourself with equipment, attending relevant seminars, and other preparation activities. You are eligible if you have taken a career break due to caring responsibilities, illness, or time spent in non-research work. This funding is designed to help you re-establish your research profile and productivity after your absence from academic research.
