Category 1 Hazardous Waste Collection and Disposal Services at Dublin Airport

Dublin Airport requires specialized collection, removal, emptying, cleaning and disinfection services for Category 1 hazardous waste from the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine. This waste consists of prohibited animal products, plant materials, and food items seized from passenger luggage at airport security controls. These materials pose significant biosecurity risks to public, animal and plant health, as they may carry diseases such as Foot and Mouth Disease. Services are needed at three locations: Terminal One, Terminal Two, and Airside Stables. The successful contractor must be registered to handle Category 1 waste under Article 23 of Regulation (EC) 1069/2009 prior to commencing operations and must comply with all relevant national regulations (SI 187 2014) and EU legislation (Regulations 1069/2009 and 142/2011). The contractor must also adhere to Dublin Airport Authority's Terms and Conditions as outlined in the 2026 miscellaneous charges booklet. This is a critical biosecurity service protecting the EU from the introduction of regulated diseases and harmful materials through international travel.
