Brief

Kent County Council is seeking an experienced contractor to deliver conservation-sensitive infrastructure works for the North Kent Grazing Project, a landscape-scale nature recovery initiative. The project supports chalk grassland restoration and long-term sustainable grazing management across multiple sites within the Kent Woods and Downs National Nature Reserve and surrounding areas. Works are scheduled between Autumn 2026 and Autumn 2027 and are funded through the Farming in Protected Landscapes Programme. Scope of Works: - Installation of stock-proof fencing with removal of existing dilapidated fencing where required - Supply and installation of field gates, deer gates, and accessibility gates - Scrub clearance and green waste management including mulching - Water infrastructure installation (pipework, troughs, and connections) - Construction of access tracks where needed Project Locations: Works will be delivered across multiple North Kent sites including Birling Estate, Ranscombe Farm Reserve, Trosley Country Park, Shorne Woods Country Park, and Ladds Farm. All sites are located within the Kent Downs National Landscape, and many are designated Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs) or within the National Nature Reserve. Key Requirements: - Proven experience delivering fencing and land-based infrastructure in environmentally sensitive locations - Demonstrated ability to work safely within protected landscapes while meeting conservation criteria - Appropriate machinery for challenging terrain and ecological constraints - Capacity to deliver coordinated works across multiple sites within the programme timeframe - Full compliance with relevant legislation, British Standards, and health and safety requirements - Relevant accreditations and suitably qualified operatives Mandatory site visits will be coordinated upon expression of interest. This is a single-lot contract awarded on the basis of lowest priced compliant tender meeting quality requirements. Closing date for quotations: 28th August 2026 at 12:00 noon.
