    Brief

The Department for Education is seeking a delivery partner to establish and operate the National Centre for Arts Education by September 2026. The Centre will lead efforts to revitalise arts education in English schools, ensuring every child has access to high-quality arts teaching that develops creativity, confidence, and cultural understanding. The successful delivery partner will be responsible for: (1) providing strategic national leadership to mobilise partners and direct investment toward equitable access to arts education, particularly in underserved communities; (2) supporting excellent teaching through an online CPD platform and connections to existing teacher development; (3) promoting arts education to school leaders, teachers, parents, and young people; and (4) overseeing the Music Hubs network of 43 local partnerships, including performance monitoring and funding management from September 2027. The Centre will operate with transparency and accountability, convening partners from arts, culture, education, and philanthropy sectors. Implementation will be phased, commencing September 2026, with Music Hubs oversight transferring from Arts Council England in September 2027. The Centre will generate and share data to guide decision-making and target support where arts education access is most unequal. Arts Council England will provide parallel support for sector engagement and relationship development across the cultural education landscape. Future Music Hubs funding from September 2027 onwards is separate from this contract value.
